Sub: Complaint against Mohun Bagan Super Giant under Article 67 of the AIFF Act.

Sir/Mam,
This is to bring to your notice the issues related to the TIFO displayed by us, Mariners’ Base Camp, a registered Ultras forum of Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the Mohun Bagan vs Jamshedpur FC match at the Yubhabharati Krirangan on 01.03.2024

We had travelled to the JRD Tata Complex Stadium on 01.11.2023 at Jamshedpur for the 1st leg ISL match between Jamshedpur & Mohun Bagan, wherein we were unfortunately attacked by a crowd of unruly tobacco chewing individuals wearing JFC livery in the stands. We don’t know how these hoodlums evaded the security, however these aforementioned people not only spat tobacco at us, but also ended up beating many of our travelling fans mercilessly with sticks, bats, belts and other objects that may be used for any corporal punishment. We left the stadium that day, barely with our lives and then raised it on several social media platforms, but, sadly, no action was taken.

We understand that, any chewable tobacco is prohibited as per the AIFF disciplinary code of conduct and concentrated our TIFO on how to eradicate the said issue from India. Considering the same, we had designed and unfurled the TIFO with the clear message written in bold: “TOBACCO IS INJURIOUS TO ISL“. This was sincerely done to educate our fans and crowds alike to dispel any tobacco related habits at least when they come to see the match, as a message towards the crowd. Not for once did the TIFO target any religious, social, ethnic or personal beliefs as laid down in Article 67 of the AIFF Disciplinary Code of conduct under Article 67.

We sincerely apologize for any mayhem or misunderstanding that may have been associated with our TIFO and we wish to reassure you that the TIFO was created purely for sending a social message to the spectators and not for any discriminatory purposes as wrongly misinterpreted.

We urge you to kindly see our reasoning and where we stand for the betterment of Indian Football.

Looking forward to your assistance and cooperation

Yours faithfully,

Prasenjit Sarkar
