The millions of Mohun Bagan fans across the World celebrate the day as their ritual. There will also be a celebration mood in the club tent and new players will definitely enjoy the atmosphere at the club ground that day. With Mohun Bagan announced the four new foreign signings of Jamie Maclaren, Greg Stewart, Alberto Rodriguez, Tom Aldred alongwith their much hyped Indian domestic signing Lalengmawia Ralte (Apuia). They have mostly retain their last season’s Indian squad where there was only two departures in form of Kiyan Nassiri and
Mohun Bagan already started their reserve team practice from 10th June and some players from senior squad likes of Ashique Kuruniyan who had a terrible ACL injury last year along with Glen Martins, Arsh Anwar Sheikh also started practicing with them very early. Ashish Rai who also had a poor season last time join the practice with the reserve squad. All the players expected to arrive before 28th of July along with the new head coach José Francisco Molina. Coach Molina expected to be presented and also hold a press conference on 28th alongwith the new arrivals for the club. Apart from Greg Stewart we believe all the foreign players will be arriving before 28th of July. This season will going to be the most crucial season for us in recent times, mostly because of the ACL2 group stage qualification and we will be facing top teams from the middle east. Although, many fans are concern about the late start of the practice session but we believe that the break was needed as we have many National team players who had served with the Indian National Team in month of June. Mohun Bagan will also competing in this year’s Durand Cup and in Group A. They will face Downtown Heroes of Srinagar on 27th July, Indian Air Force on 8th August and all important Kolkata derby on 18th August.
They have expected to field their reserve team in first match with some of the senior players will be included but in 8th and 18th we believe that Molina will take charge of the dugout for the competition. The members of the Mariners’ Base Camp family will be present at the club ground on that day to perform their traditional facilitation of the players, coach and other supporting staffs. We have started this tradition in 2017 and since then we are carrying this tradition on the first day of Practice. The day is really special to us along with all the Mohun Bagan fans across the globe. We have celebrate the day as our own as the day made the name Mohun Bagan imprinted not only in Indian Football but also part of our History in the Freedom struggle during the British Raj. That is why Mohun Bagan and it’s legacy is much different than any other football club in India. We believe that the team will definitely succeed in our target for the upcoming season and achieve something which will be beneficial for the Indian Football in coming days.
